A Jessamine County teenager remains in a medically induced coma nearly two weeks after a devastating UTV crash on the Fourth of July.

Fourteen-year-old Brianna “BB” Locker was riding in a Polaris Razor driven by her uncle when the vehicle struck a fence and collided with a tree along Bethel Road. Emergency crews responded to the scene and had to stabilize the Razor before cutting through parts of the vehicle to safely remove the teen.

Her mother, Kassey Stinnett, said the crash occurred shortly after the family had gathered to celebrate the holiday with fireworks.

“She just started ninth grade,” Stinnett said. “She loves sports, the outdoors—fishing, hunting, softball. After the fireworks, she went for a ride in the Razor and she didn’t come back. When we arrived on the scene, first responders were already working to get her out.”

Locker was airlifted to UK Hospital, where doctors found she had suffered a collapsed lung, swelling on the brain, fractured ribs, a broken leg, and a skull fracture on the right side. She was placed on life support and remains in an induced coma.

“We’ve been at the hospital for over a week now,” Stinnett said. “She’s still in a coma, but she is a fighter, and we are getting through this one day at a time.”

The Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. Brianna’s uncle, who was driving the UTV, was also hospitalized with injuries.

Loved ones describe BB as athletic, determined, and strong—qualities they say are guiding her fight to recover.
