Four people, including two young children, were injured Tuesday night in what Nicholasville police are calling a targeted drive-by shooting.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. near the intersection of East Brannon Road and U.S. Highway 27. According to authorities, the victims were in a vehicle turning onto the highway when another car approached and opened fire, discharging more than 20 rounds.

The victims include a 39-year-old woman, a 37-year-old man, and two girls, ages 4 and 6. Police said one child was grazed by a bullet, while the other was shot in the leg. All four individuals were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover.

Investigators believe the shooting stems from an ongoing conflict involving the adults in the vehicle. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is assisting with the case, citing prior involvement with the victims. However, police said details surrounding the victims’ background remain under review.

Officers are currently collecting surveillance video from surrounding businesses in the Brannon Crossing area as part of their investigation.

Nicholasville police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact their department directly.
