A Mobile Disaster Recovery Center opened in Jessamine County on Wednesday, June 19 and will be open until Sunday, June 23.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will use the center to assist Kentucky survivors who were impacted by the April 2 severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, landslides, and mudslides.
The center is located at the Providence School at 200 Computrex Drive, Nicholasville, KY, 40356. Its hours of operation are: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, June 19-21: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Friday, June 21; 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 22; and 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 23.
According to the city of Nicholasville, Disaster Recovery Centers provide disaster survivors with information from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration. Survivors can get help applying for federal assistance and disaster loans, update applications and learn about other resources available. FEMA financial assistance may include money for basic home repairs or other uninsured, disaster-related needs, such as childcare, transportation, medical needs, funeral or dental expenses.
However, it is not necessary to go in person to the Disaster Recovery Center to apply for aid. Homeowners and renters in designated counties can go online to disasterassistance.gov, call 800-621-3362 or use the FEMA mobile app to apply. If you use a relay service, such as video relay, captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA your number for that service.
