Nicholasville has family-friendly Christmas festivities scheduled all day on Saturday, December 9, with the St. Nich Christmas Festival.

“This is our ninth annual event. It continues to grow each year with excitement, with downtown businesses and places wanting to participate in this great festival- I think just to share the Christmas spirit with the whole community,” said Ronda May, executive director of the Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce.

The day starts with a pancake breakfast with Santa Claus at the Nicholasville Baptist Church at 9 a.m. on 131 South Main Street.

Then, while Christmas music plays throughout downtown, folks are invited to enjoy shopping with holiday vendors at the Coolidge Building on 501 East Maple Street, The Oaks, The Mercantile, and St. Luke Catholic Church, all on Main Street.

According to May, local businesses all along Main Street will have great deals.

The Town Center on Main Street will offer hot chocolate, funny pictures, and kid’s Christmas crafts. City National Bank will also have refreshments and kid’s crafts offered.

Farmers Bank will have another Santa offering crafts and a petting zoo.

Lexington First Insurance will be providing refreshments and a photo with the Grinch.

The Jessamine County Public Library will be hosting its artisan fair with workshops all over its new creative space live music and crafts all day.

Jessamine County Animal Care and Control will also host Santa Claus so that pets can get their Santa photos.

The main events of the day are in the evening. At 4 p.m., Main Street is closing from Maple Street up to Orchard Drive for the UGLY Christmas Sweater NJCPR 3K run at 4:30 p.m. and the nighttime Christmas parade that starts at 5:30 p.m. The parade will begin at Dan’s Discount and end at Maple Street. After the parade, Santa will still be available for photos and hot cocoa at the Town Center.

“It’s going to be a day full of fun and excitement, so bring the family and friends and participate in the Ninth Annual St.Nich Christmas Festival,” May said.
