With nine new cases of COVID-19 reported in less than a week, Jessamine County has cleared the 100 case mark.

As of Monday afternoon, the Jessamine County Health Department reported a total of 106 confirmed cases in the county. A dozen of those are considered active, according to the department’s Monday afternoon update.

A week ago, the department listed 97 cases.

The department also tested 102 people in the past week as well, bringing the total number to 2,206. Out of those tested, 31 were positive and another 103 were pending. The balance were all negative.

The majority of the positive cases, 70% were considered asymptomatic, according to the department.

The bulk of the county’s positive cases remain in the 18-30 age group, with more than 30 cases confirmed. The 51-50 group is nearing the 20-case mark.

Monday marked another round of expansion as businesses and restaurants were allowed to open to 50 percent capacity.

JCHD continues to offer free COVID-19 testing for those with one of the symptoms: a dry cough, fever over 100 degrees, diarrhea or shortness of breath. People can complete an online assessment or over the phone, and health department employees will schedule an appointment for testing.
