Red Oak Elementary School welcomed student’s from Tai Po Old Market Public School in Hong Kong earlier this month. A dozen students, ages 10 to 12, and two teachers attended the local elementary school for eight days as an educational exchange between schools.
“We have had a potluck and game time at school, a welcome event at morning meeting, a trip to Alltech and Malibu Jacks,” Red Oak Elementary School Principal Andrea McNeal said. “The students attend fifth-grade classes and participate in all parts of school. In the evening, they are part of the host family and doing what the family does.”
McNeal said this is not the first time an exchange group has visited Red Oak. Each year, a different group comes to visit including previously hosting students from Spain.
“It’s been a pretty cool experience getting to know students from another country,” Logan Quinn said. “It’s also been neat showing them things here in America.
