Wilmore joins in the welcoming of the Holiday Season with the town’s Old Fashioned Christmas on Saturday. The community invites everyone into the Christmas spirit by celebrating the holidays with an all-day, community-wide series of events.

Activities will begin bright and early with the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast and model train display by Robin Grider at the Wesley Village dining hall. The breakfast costs $5 per person and $1 for preschoolers. The model train display, which is sponsored by Integrity Premium Advertising, is free for all ages. Breakfast will last from 7 to 10 a.m., with the train display going from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., visitors to the Old Fashioned Christmas can stop by and browse the  Homemade Christmas Craft Fair at Asbury Seminary Gym, the Christmas Holiday Market at Mt. Freedom Baptist Church and the Holiday Vendor Craft Fair at Wilmore Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., a number of downtown Wilmore’s merchants will host open houses. The businesses will include Shalah’s Studio Creations, Kim Bernard Law Office, The Family Center, Autumn & Co., Wilmore’s Antiques and Rachel’s Rose Garden.

AdventureServe Ministries will have a fundraiser dinner featuring a beans and rice bar at 4:30 p.m. The event will be held near the Wilmore Presbyterian Church, and will be served until 7 p.m.

The official Tree Lighting Ceremony will commence at 5:30 p.m. at the Wilmore United Methodist Church parking lot on Main Street. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the Best Decorated Homes contest, and seasonal music will be performed by the Salvation Army Brass Band under the direction of Nathan Miller and special guests. Speaking of special guests, the main Special Guest of the season is scheduled to arrive in Wilmore in time to attend the ceremony.

Wesley Village is hosting the “Acts of Renewal Theatre Company,” led by Asbury University professors Jim and Carol Shores. The free event will feature comedy vignettes celebrating Christmas.

In addition, local businesses will be open from 6 to 7:45 p.m. with local musicians to usher in the holiday spirit. The grand finale of the event will take place at the Wilmore United Methodist Church at 8 p.m., featuring the All-Town Student Fellowship under the direction of Nathan Miller.
