Two Jessamine County students were among nine graduating seniors in Kentucky to receive a $1,000 scholarship from the 2017 Blue Grass Energy Scholarship Program.
Jessica Justice, daughter of Kevin and Angel Justice of Nicholasville, is graduating from West Jessamine High School and Kaitlyn Maricle, daughter of Holly Weyl of Nicholasville, is graduating from East Jessamine High School.
Each recipient of the scholarship will spend a workday at the cooperative later this summer. They will learn more about Blue Grass Energy, the cooperative business model and tour a power plant.
Since the beginning of the program in 1991, Blue Grass Energy has awarded over $250,000 in scholarships to students based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and financial need.
