The third person who faces charges in connection with the murder of a local teenager made her first court appearance involving the case on Friday.

Halie Anglin, 20, has been charged with second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

Officers with the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office arrested Anglin on March 28 in connection with the death of 15-year-old Leo Travers. She was indicted on March 30.

Police say Anglin drove Travers to meet with Tyler Jeffers, 18, the night Travers was killed.

Jeffers was arraigned on Friday, March 24 for a murder charge in the shooting death of Travers. He was also indicted on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment after some of the gunfire shattered the back window of a car driven by Anglin.

Jeffers was also arraigned on charges including first offense criminal attempt to sell a controlled substance to a minor with a firearm, tampering with physical evidence and receiving stolen property.

A detective with the Nicholasville Police Department testified that Travers and Jeffers’s reason for meeting that night was a transaction involving marijuana.

Jeffers also had a hearing on Friday, where his attorney, Bradley Clark, requested another status hearing to be set for next month.

Jeffers has pleaded not guilty, and Clark said he acted in self-defense. He also said that recent evidence found by the state medical examiner may collaborate with his argument. 

A trial date has not been set yet.

“Right now it’s up in the air,” Clark said.

The next status hearing for both Jeffers and Anglin will be Friday, May 12.
