Menards home improvement stores across the country, including the Richmond location, are now serving as drop sites for its local food pantry.

The food drive at the 512 Caperton Drive Richmond location will take food donations from January 1 until March 31 and will donate the food to God’s Outreach in Madison County throughout the three-month period.

The location’s General Manager, Bill Hamilton, said that people can drop off items anytime the store is open every day from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

After only a week into the drive, the store has already collected plenty of donations. “We have quite a bit of donations—there’s quite a bit up there right now even…in a pretty huge box,” Hamilton said, adding that God’s Outreach was on its way to pick up the goods and disperse them.

It’s a community-based drive, and Hamilton said, “Most of us team members have already put stuff in there. We’ve got a team member who takes a certain percentage from their check and contributes; everybody contributes to it.”

Menards offers a variety of non-perishable food items that can

be donated to the food pantries, from boxes of cereal to cans of soup

that can be found in the grocery department for immediate donation.

To receive assistance from the Richmond/Madison County God’s Outreach, you must be a Madison County resident and bring with you your photo ID/Driver’s license, a current piece of mail with your name and address on it, and the name and date of birth of everyone who lives in the home. Food pickup times are Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to noon.
