Isaac Seldon Little, 83, passed into God’s light in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 15, 2024. He died in peace at home with family after his final battle with cancer.
Born in Wolfe County and then residing in and around Nicholasville, Seldon farmed tobacco and beef cattle in Jessamine. A lifelong horseman, he raised Saddlebred horses and owned the winning racehorse Claire’s Delight.
He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a master’s in education and was active with Alpha Gamma Rho and Future Farmers of America. In the FFA he was president, a state public speaking winner, and a state impromptu speaking winner. After graduating, he served in the Army before returning to Lexington to work for International Harvester. He soon returned to farming for many years. His farm produced the highest burley tobacco yields in the county. He could fix anything and was always at the ready to help neighbors, friends, and family if they needed assistance with a tractor, animals, or a fence.
In his retirement, he enjoyed puzzles, spending time with his family and grandchildren, and of course Big Blue basketball and football.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Appeldorn Little; his daughter Meredith Russell of Boulder, Colorado; brothers Richard “Dick” Little and his wife Mitch of Montgomery, Alabama and Gene Little of Lexington, Kentucky; and his grandchildren Claire Russell and Gabriel Russell also of Boulder, Colorado; as well as an extended family including many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Richmond Little, mother Gladys Little, and sister Bernice Glidden.
Seldon and his wife attended Nicholasville Methodist Church. The visitation will be held at Betts & West Funeral Home in Nicholasville, KY from 5:30 – 8:00 PM on Friday, September 27. He is to be buried at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens on Saturday, September 28, immediately following the funeral service at 11:00 AM.
Betts & West is honored to serve Seldon and his family in their time of need. An online guestbook is available at www.BettsAndWestFuneralHome.com
