Jeffers pleas not guilty

A man who was arrested and charged with the murder of a 15-year-old student pled not guilty in court on Tuesday.
Tyler Jeffers, 18, was arrested and charged on Friday, Jan. 13 with wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence, receiving stolen property/firearm and the murder of 15-year-old East Jessamine High student Leo Travers.
Jeffers, also an East Jessamine High student, pled not guilty in district court on Tuesday. His preliminary hearing date has been set for 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23.
Jeffers’ grandfather, Albert McKinney, 67, was also arrested in connection with the case. He was charged with tampering with physical evidence. McKinney was released on bond on Friday, Jan. 13.
