Samuel A. Manley age 71, Captain for the Madison County Sheriffs office, passed away suddenly on Tuesday Dec. 12, 2023 at Baptist Health in Richmond Kentucky. Sam was born to the late Jack and Loretta Berry Manley, he served 27 years in the US Army Reserves as a Drill Instructor, 2005 he retired as the Assistant Chief of Police for the City of Richmond, in 2008 he began his service as Captain of Madison County Sheriff’s Office until his passing on Tuesday.
Sam is survived by his wife Barbara Manley of Richmond, his daughters: Melissa Manley Berry, Kasi Miller (Savannah), and Katie Johns, his brother Jay Manley, his grandchildren: Kaitlinn Berry, Gabriel Berry, Sydney Berry, Eva Prothro, and Lola Johns, his niece Jaylena Manley, and nephews: William Hunter Manley Miller, Trey Briggs, and Jaydon Briggs.
Funeral services will be Tuesday Dec. 19, 2023 at 12 noon at Church on The Rock with Rev. Larry Burton and Chaplin Josh Horn officiating, burial will take place in the Madison County Memorial Gardens, with Military Honors. The Madison County Sheriff’s office will serve as Honor guard and pallbearers as well as Jay Manley, Savannah Miller, and Ryan Young. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5-8 pm also at Church on The Rock in Berea. Lakes Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
