Wilmore will be hosting the Festival of the Fourth to celebrate the Fourth of July.
The celebrations start at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 4 with a parade, and the festival begins at 11 a.m.
The parade begins at Wilmore Elementary School and goes down E. Main St. and Lexington Ave. The best location to view the parade is downtown Wilmore and in front of Asbury University and Asbury Seminar on Lexington Ave. The streets will be closed that morning around 9:45 a.m.
The festival starts immediately after the parade and is located at the Wilmore Municipal Center. The festival kicks off with an opening ceremony and patriotic program, where the Fresh F Barbershop Quartet from East Jessamine High School will be performing. Food trucks and arts and crafts vendors will be set up, along with music under the pavilion. Games like basketball, soccer, cornhole, and more will be available to play, along with inflatables by Abounding Fun.
There will be a dog agility course available to have visitors’ dogs play through. The course is hosted by Benson K-9 Training, which will be giving prizes for the top three dogs.
There will be limited parking near the venue, but parking will be available at the former Wesbanco, Mt. Freedom Baptist Church, and Asbury Library parking lots. Seating will be available, but it is recommended to bring chairs and blankets. Air conditioning is available inside Assembly Hall.
More information and updates will be available on the City of Wilmore Facebook page, at www.facebook.com/CityOfWilmore.
