The Jaguars’ season came to an end on May 17th with a record of 9-19.
In a low-scoring but competitive contest, they lost in the opener of the 46th District Tournament 2-1 on May 17th to West Jessamine at their arch-rival’s school. They forced their opponent into nine strikeouts while holding the Colts to three hits.
With the loss and the season concluding, the last game in a Jaguars’ uniform was played by seniors Aiden Adams, Evan Burczyk, Jake Cox, Andrew Geis, Brycen Hubbard, Nate Messer, Daniel Terrazas, and Logan Woolums.
Players such as Caleb Cadle, Ryan Dugger, Anthony Kidwell, and William Sandlin will return next season.
West Jessamine High School
In a surprise run, the Colts (17-19) won two games en route to the 12th Region Championship Game this past week.
Against host Boyle County (24-8-1), the Colts won their 12th Region quarterfinal contest 3-2. Hayden Smith struck out eight batters over five innings, while Landon Davis struck out four in two innings of hitless relief. Smith also hit a home run en route to having two RBIs, while Riley Uhls had a pair of hits as well. Hayden Peters, Aubrey Kearns, and Cooper Morton found themselves on base through walks.
One day later, West Jessamine defeated host Somerset (17-20) by a 14-3 score. Hayden Smith had three hits, while Peters, Eli Nickell, Andrew Wilkins, and Uhls each delivered two hits. Smith and Uhls also had 3 RBIas. Ryan Long was one of four Colts players to hit a double. The tandem of Riley Uhls, Ethan Wilkins, and Nathaniel Hershey struck out 12 Briar Jumpers.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Colts season came to a close in a 5-2 loss against Danville (30-8). They managed to strike out nine Admirals’ batters. Danville won its second consecutive 12th Region Championship, having finished in the final four in the KHSAA State Baseball Tournament last year.
With the loss, seniors Chandler Dampier, Trey Robinson, Hayden Smith, Pierce Tussey, and Riley Uhls played their final game in a Colts uniform.
Players such as Aubrey Hearns, Cooper Longhofer, Eli Nickell, Hayden Peters, and Andrew Wilkins return next season.
