East Jessamine Baseball

This week, the Jags (9-18) returned to the win column in impressive fashion by winning three of their five outings.

They won both games of a double-header against Burgin (9-15) to end a 7-game losing streak. In their first match-up – a 12-2 victory in six innings – they were able to strike out 13 batters thanks to the efforts of Caleb Cadle, William Sandlin, and Cameron Allen. Andrew Geis and Anthony Kidwell each had a pair of hits and RBIs. Their second match-up, a much closer 8-7 victory, saw Ryan Dugger pick up the win in relief while Geis, Aiden Adams, and Aiden Cooper each had two RBIs.

Later, they lost 6-1 to Anderson County (23-13). The Jags were able to strike out 6 batters on a complete game by William Harrison, while Geis delivered 2 hits and Kidwell delivered an RBI.

In a Wednesday matchup against Casey County in Liberty, the Jags outlasted the Rebels (16-18-1) 4-3 in nine innings. They were able to strike out eight batters and held their opponent to just a .200 batting average.

The Jags wrapped up their regular season on Friday with an 8-2 loss to Madison Southern (12-15) in Richmond.

To start the postseason, the Jags will take on cross-town rival and host West Jessamine (13-17) in the 46th District Tournament on Wednesday, May 18th at 7:30 p.m.. The winner will play in the 46th District Championship Game on Thursday, May 19th at 6:30 p.m. against either Mercer County (24-9-1) or the aforementioned Burgin Bulldogs.

In a trio of contests this week, the Colts went 1-2 to bring their record to 13-17.

They started with a 5-1 victory against Boyle County (22-7-1) in Danville. During the contest, Landon Davis held the formidable Rebels to just four hits over five innings with nine strikeouts. Hayden Smith delivered three RBIs, while Aubrey Kearns and Riley Uhls each offered a pair of hits.

In their following matchup against top-ranked Danville (26-7), the Colts lost a competitive battle by a 4-2 score. Four different pitchers combined to strike out five Admiral batters, while Smith offered two RBIs, and hits were also delivered by Hayden Peters, Uhls, Eli Nickell, and Cooper Longhofer.

The next day, the Colts were bested by Madison Central (23-7) by a 12-0 score in five innings. Smith struck out six batters, while Cooper Morton and Pierce Tussey were among players to deliver hits.

The Colts look to end the regular season this week while also starting the playoffs.

On Monday, their regular season finale will take place in Versailles against Woodford County. The Yellowjackets, who enter the game with a respectable 19-12 record, will be looking to end a three-game losing streak.

Afterward, the Colts begin the 46th District Tournament at home with a contest against rival East Jessamine (9-18) at 7:30 on Wednesday, May 18th . The winner takes on either Mercer County (24-9-1) or Burgin (9-15) in the 46th District Tournament Championship Game on Thursday, May 19th at 6:30 p.m.
