Hundreds of high school students in several counties auditioned in mid January for the Kentucky Music Educators Association’s 2022 7th All-District Honor Bands. West Jessamine High School had 8 students audition for the KMEA 7th District All-District Bands.
“After working here at WJHS for the past seven months, I have learned a few things about the band program here,” WJHS Band Director Ben Lay said. “Despite the ongoing pandemic, their love for music has never faltered, their talents have grown immensely, and their dedication to the growth and excellence makes my job that much more enjoyable. We have the best students here at WJHS and I am excited to see how we continue to grow in the future.”
The following students were selected to represent WJHS based on their scores.
Lisa-Bel Louis (8th Chair Symphonic Band, Clarinet)
Violet Madill (6th Chair Concert Band, Clarinet)
Lexi Dixon(11th Chair Concert Band, Clarinet)
Justin Fallon(5th Chair Concert Band, Alto Sax)
Olivia Proctor (Alternate, French Horn)
Congratulations goes to these students for performing with musical excellence! Unfortunately, due to the weather a few students could not attend the event, but congratulations to Justin Fallon for a fantastic concert!
