Hello everyone, this is chaplain Billy Holland with the Jessamine County Fire District. Every member of the department, along with our volunteers, hope you are doing well.
We are beginning to organize our annual food drive for the upcoming holidays! We realize the last two years have been challenging, but we are believing for another miracle because like always, we are thinking about the children. The county fire district takes an active role in the community, simply because we want to do all we can to help the families of Jessamine County.
At around $50 per box, our goal is to raise at least $10,000 this year. To say the least, a project this large truly takes a village to accomplish.
Applications can be filled out at the Jessamine County Fire Station on the corner of John Watts Drive, (copper roof) on Oct. 25 and 26. This will allow us to know how much food we will need to order. We are purchasing again from Kroger on Harrodsburg Road as these fine folks are such a blessing. Distribution is planned for Saturday, Nov. 20. Just pull through the fire station and we will load your vehicle. For the elderly and disabled that are unable to drive, we will deliver the boxes. If you know anyone in the county that could use a box, please relay this information.
Last year, the drive was able to provide 175 boxes with many different food items including whole turkeys. There is a lot of need as food prices continue to soar. If you are interested in making a contribution and would like to mail it, please send it to Jessamine County Fire District, 1310 South Main Street, Nicholasville, KY, 40356, attention Chaplain Holland. You can make out your check to J.C.F.D. FOOD DRIVE. For those who have contributed in the past, thank you for your generosity. We appreciate your concern and prayers as we work together to help those in need.
