Hugh Logan Watts, Jr., affectionately known as Jr., Pops and Pappaw, age 92, widower of Betty Ruth Gayhart Watts, passed away Monday, April 5, 2021, at Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born in Richmond, Indiana, on Feb. 19, 1929, to the late Hugh Logan Watts Sr. and Virginia Canter Watts Waters. Hugh was retired after 32 years from the Kentucky Highway Department, where he was a striper foreman, and a tobacco farmer. He lived for 54 years in Little Hickman where he loved gardening and growing strawberries. Survivors include four children, Bobby J. Watts and Peggy Ann Watts of Nicholasville, Kentucky. Cathy Jean Watts-West, Tennessee, Mark Logan (Tracey) Watts, Jessamine County; five grandchildren, Melissa Kaye West- Benson (David), Jessica Leigh West-Kelley (Jeremy), Ryan Thomas West (Afton), Logan Lee Watts, Shannon Corey Stevens (Brittany); seven great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Marie Kelley-Tomer (Zachary), Anna Isabelle West, Rowan Ruth Benson, Jackson Thomas West, Casen Lee Kelley, Myles Raleigh West, and Arlow Drexel Stevens and a sister, Betty Watts Lowry Canter. He was preceded in death by a brother, PFC Bobbie Edward Watts, sister, Joann Watts Norman-Byers and his stepfather, George Waters Sr. Services will be held at a later date.
