Make your next visit to the library a brief one, for a good cause, as part of Jessamine County Public Library’s Drop Your Drawers campaign.
Once again, the library is accepting donations of new, unopened packages of underwear for children to benefit Jessamine County Schools.
These donations will provide direct assistance to each local school’s Family Resource Center by replenishing their supply of emergency underpants.
“Occasionally we have students who have accidents due to medical reasons, some who spill milk or juice on themselves at lunch or who get wet on the playground equipment after it rains,” said Ashley Jenkins, Family Resource Center coordinator at Nicholasville Elementary. “It is a huge help to have underwear in our Family Resource Centers to ensure any child can change at school if needed.”
JCPL is committed to supporting the education of children in our county. The Drop Your Drawers campaign helps ensure that children feel secure and confident at school and do not have to worry about suffering embarrassment for having to finish a school day with soiled clothing. This sense of security helps students focus on their class work and heightens their ability to learn and engage with their peers.
Bring your donations of children’s underwear, sizes 6 to 16, to the Customer Service Desk inside the library, or place your donations in JCPL’s drive-up 24-hour book drop.
For each new, unopened pack of children’s underwear you donate, your name will be entered to win a $50 Visa gift card.
You can also donate through the library’s Amazon Wishlist and have your gift sent directly to the library.
Check out jesspublib.org and click “events calendar” for more details on how to donate.
“We are so grateful for the Drop Your Drawers Campaign here in Jessamine County,” Jenkins said. “We have been surprised and humbled by the amount of donations given each year and we definitely use the underwear throughout the school year.”
Your donations make a difference in the lives of Jessamine County kids! Drop Your Drawers at the library anytime before Dec. 30.
