Man charged with stealing jeans, shoes

A Lexington man is facing a pair of theft charges for allegedly stealing shoes and a pair of jeans from Kohl’s on two occasions.
According to Nicholasville Police, officers were contacted by loss prevention officials on Feb. 5 after seeing a suspected shoplifter leave the fitting room wearing a pair of jeans. Loss prevention officers stopped 40-year-old Francis Hughes after he left without paying for the jeans. In an interview, Hughes reportedly admitted to taking the jeans and was arrested for theft by unlawful taking.
The following day, Hughes was charged with another count of theft by unlawful taking . According to the arrest citation, Hughes spoke with officers concerning a Jan. 25 theft when he stole a pair of shoes from the same Kohl’s store.
Hughes was lodged in the Jessamine County Detention Center.
