Asbury University announced its strategic priorities have been taking shape through a new 2022 Initiative VI for on-campus resources, physical facilities and systems which set the foundation for the University.

Releasing an “Imagine 2022: Asbury’s Vision for Faithful Change” statement, the five-year strategic plan provides priorities and acts as a roadmap to serve the current generation while also helping to deepen the university’s commitment to Asbury’s mission.

“It’s important to know that the initiative is not just about constructing a new building,” Glenn Hamilton, vice president for business affairs and treasury said in a prepared statement. “It’s about how we operate and run what we have, not just in physical facilities but in our infrastructure, in our IT systems. Can a person use our systems and experience something intuitive and easy to use? That’s part of what we’re looking at as well.”

Hamilton oversees the facilities and system updates for 2022 Initiative VI, and said the initiative serves to “pursue excellence in the development, implementation and management of systems, facilities and infrastructure.”

The 2022 Initiative is comprised of four main points which include maximizing physical facilities for the university’s functions and opportunities, improving online student experience, and increasing capacity and efficiency of internal infrastructure while also identifying, hiring and developing outstanding employees who are committed to supporting the university’s mission.

Through the implementation of 2022 Imagine VI, Hamilton said there has been much progress in providing funds for the development of the faculty. According to Hamilton, the university is just a year away from meeting their goal of point four, and in a recent campus-wide facility survey the university received a better sense of deferred maintenance issues and projects which need to be completed in each building over the next five to ten years.

One of the primary pieces of the initiative focuses on the infrastructure of Asbury University and completing construction goals. Hamilton announced that over the next 18 months, along with his staff, he will be entering into the design phase of the Asbury’s collaborative learning center to begin looking into starting construction. Hamilton will also be looking at utility usage and the scheduling of facilities in order to figure out anyway the university can make those elements more effective.

“Our faculty truly embody academic excellence in their research and study,” Hamilton said. “And as we continue to invest in opportunities for their professional development, we’re also investing in the student experience at Asbury.”
