Brenda Elaine (Hackney) Cantrell, age 77, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 27, 2025 at her home in Nicholasville , Kentucky. Brenda was born on August 17, 1947 in Pikeville, Kentucky to her loving parents Lella Mae (Hogston) and William Virgil Hackney. Brenda was a full-time homemaker. Brenda deeply loved her family and enjoyed cooking delicious meals for them. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Brenda was a very outgoing person who enjoyed talking to people. She was very active in her community and children’s school often organizing events in Elkhorn City for the band, baseball and football teams. Brenda was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband, Larry Earl Cantrell, and they were happily married for 53 years. Brenda is survived by her and Larry’s two children, daughter Toni Rene'(Cantrell) Shifflett and son, John Michael Cantrell. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Lindsey Elaine Shifflett, Lauren Rene’ Shifflett, and Jonathon Dalton Cantrell from Nicholasville. A private family service will be held on Saturday February 1, 2025 at the Cantrell family cemetery in Pike County, Ky.
