The 2024 Drop Your Drawers campaign at the Jessamine County Public Library (JCPL) was a roaring success. With generous support from the community, over 2,000 individual pairs of underwear were collected from over 50 donors.

The donation drive ran from November 1, 2024, through December 30, 2024. JCPL set a goal of collecting 1,000 pairs and quickly exceeded this goal.

The library has participated in this Kentucky-wide partnership between schools and public libraries since 2016 when over 660 individual pairs of underwear were donated and given to Jessamine County Schools’ Family Resource Centers.

Easily recognized by the popular character “Captain Underpants” by author and illustrator Dav Pilkey, the Drop Your Drawers campaign collects donations of new underpants for children. Schools hand out dozens of pairs a month to children who need clean underwear due to accidents at school or other issues. Donations to JCPL’s Drop Your Drawers underwear drive help replenish emergency supplies at Family Resource Centers throughout Jessamine County Schools so that all kids can be comfortable, confident learners.

JCPL extends warm thanks to all of those who dropped their drawers for a good cause. A $50 Visa gift card will be raffled off to a lucky donor. JCPL’s Marketing & Public Relations Coordinator will also present a trophy crafted in JCPL’s Creative Space to Wilmore Presbyterian Church for donating the most pairs of underwear.
