Attorney General Russell Coleman congratulated the Attorney General’s Violent Crime Resource Prosecutor Tom Lockridge, of Jessamine County, for receiving the Distinguished Faculty Award from the National District Attorneys Association. The Award recognizes those who have increased education and furthered community knowledge in the prosecutorial field.

As the Violent Crime Resource Prosecutor, Lockridge offers training and support to prosecutors across Kentucky as they take on complex and violent crimes, including capital offenses. Earlier this year, Lockridge partnered with Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 21st Judicial District Ashton McKenzie to secure a 43-year sentence for a 2014 murder in Rowan County.

Before his appointment to the role in 2022, Lockridge had served as the Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor and as the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Jessamine and Garrard counties for more than 25 years. He was the President of the Commonwealth Attorney’s Association, and he received the “Outstanding Kentucky Prosecutor” and the “Outstanding Commonwealth’s Attorney” awards.

“Tom has been an invaluable mentor and friend throughout Kentucky’s prosecutorial community – including as my first boss after passing the Bar. I’m proud to congratulate Tom on this well-deserved honor, and I’m grateful to work alongside him every day as we protect Kentucky families,” said Attorney General Coleman.

“As I reach the twilight of my career as a prosecutor, I feel a responsibility to try and pass along things that I’ve learned over the years about being a professional prosecutor,” said Lockridge. “I really appreciate the opportunity that Attorney General Coleman has given me to offer support to the prosecutors of Kentucky, and I’m grateful to be honored by the NDAA for helping with their training mission.”

Founded in 1950, the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA) is a national, non-partisan non-profit membership association that provides training, technical assistance, and services to prosecutors around the country in support of the prosecution profession. As the oldest and largest association of prosecutors in the country with over 5,500 members, NDAA represents state and local prosecutors’ offices from both urban and rural districts, as well as large and small jurisdictions.
