News Release
It’s time, once again, to Drop Your Drawers at the Jessamine County Public Library. This year’s underwear drive, benefiting Jessamine County Schools, runs from Nov. 1 through Dec. 30. Championed by the popular and distinctive “Captain Underpants” (by author and illustrator Dav Pilkey), the Drop Your Drawers campaign collects donations of new underpants for children.
When caregivers aren’t able to bring fresh underwear to their children at school, children can miss out on valuable learning time. Donations to JCPL’s Drop Your Drawers drive help to replenish emergency supplies at Family Resource Centers throughout Jessamine County Schools. The end result? Comfortable, confident kids in our school classrooms.
JCPL has participated in this Kentucky-wide initiative since 2016 when over 660 individual pairs of underwear were donated and given to Family Resource Centers. This year, the library’s goal is to donate 1,000 pairs of underwear.
The library will be accepting donations at the JCPL Customer Service Desk inside the main library in Nicholasville. Donations should be new and in original packaging. Preferred sizes are 4 through 16 for both boys and girls. Each package of donated underwear earns the donor a drawing entry for a $50 Visa gift card. Donors can also receive an “I dropped my drawers at the library!” sticker while supplies last.
