Wilmore is celebrating its 24th Arts and Crafts Festival this year, and the organizers say it’s the biggest the festival has ever been.

The festival will take place on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. It will take over Main Street, the downtown green behind Drinklings and the train caboose in Wilmore with about 80 handmade arts and crafts vendors from all over Jessamine County and the greater central Kentucky area.

Five women in Wilmore organized the festival.

The co-chairs are Mary Miller, who sets up the festival’s vendors, and Aureol Moore, who takes care of the live music. The head of the Wilmore Community Development Board, July Woolums, is also a large part of the organizing team, as are Julie Johnson and Tara Hall.

Organizing the festival is a group effort.

“I mean, we’re a team,” Miller said.

According to Miller, the vendors will sell various wares.

“There will be wood products, we have a lot of jewelry, we have a lot of ceramics and pottery, we have glass, we have people that design t-shirts, people make doll clothes and photographers,” she said.

Some vendors are local, but most come from out-of-town Moorehead, Frankfort, Lawrenceburg, Lancaster, Nicholsville and Bardstown.

In addition to the vendors, the Festival will have multiple food trucks stationed in the downtown green, including The Local Confectionary, Drinklings Coffee House, Wake and Bake Food Truck, Kirk’s Blue Smoke BBQ, Comfort Kitchen, Hippie Tom’s Concessions and a taco truck.

Miller said that the downtown green area will be the festival’s epicenter, and it will have 30 vendors this year, pony rides, a ton of the festival’s food trucks and live music.

The live music performances are:

• 9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. Barely Shaken String Band

• 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Tall Dark and Handsome 4

• 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Pat Geary

• 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Cane Run Bluegrass

• 2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. Blake Jones And Dale Adams

There will also be children’s activities in the downtown green for free. This will include pumpkin painting, games, and other family activities.

For accessibility, golf carts will be available to take people from the stockyard to the downtown green.
