After 25 years on the force, including the last few as head of the department, Nicholasville Police Chief Todd Justice retired on Monday.
Starting in the patrol division of the police department, Justice eventually moved up the ladder to oversee criminal investigations.
Justice was promoted to chief following the retirement of former police chief Barry Waldrop at the end of 2017.
During his tenure as chief, Justice oversaw the building of the new department headquarters located at 717 North Main Street.
The community room at the headquarters was named in Justice’s honor during his retirement party Monday afternoon.
Justice’s replacement is Michael Fleming, who the Nicholasville City Commission gave the nod to in June.
