A Nicholasville man has won $50,000 from a Kentucky Lottery 500X scratch-off ticket.
David Green bought the ticket as part of his payday routine. After cashing his paycheck, he stops at the Speedway on Southland Drive to purchase lottery tickets.
At first, the ticket Green usually buys was sold out. But he was able to buy the winning ticket because of a helpful Speedway clerk.
“I went in, and the dispenser of the ticket I wanted was empty. I asked the clerk if she had any more. She was stocking, but she stopped for me and opened up a new pack. I’m so thankful that she took the time to do that for me. She could have just Green took the ticket and started scratching the ticket in his car. He saw 10X, then scratched the next one, and saw the ticket was a winner.
“I was so excited,” Green said.
According to the Kentucky Lottery, the odds of winning this $50,000 prize is 1 in 15,000.
As for how he’ll spend the money, Green said he is going to pay off vehicle loans for his Jeep and van.
“That’s going to be a huge relief,” he said.
The Speedway will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Green will receive a check for $35,000 after taxes.
