News Release
Jessamine County is excited to announce the return of a holiday favorite event in the community, the County Christmas Tree Lighting. For decades, residents and visitors have gathered at the Jessamine County Courthouse lawn and ushered in the season with a traditional Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.
The tree lighting will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. In addition to the tree lighting, children of all ages are welcome to come to take pictures with Santa Claus free of charge. There will be music, lemonade, and cookies available as well.
For those who cannot attend but would enjoy watching the cherished tradition, the tree lighting will also be streamed on Jessamine County’s Facebook page via Facebook Live.
Returning to the courthouse this year, the mailbox that will go directly to the North Pole will be set up.
Children are encouraged to bring their letters to Santa and drop them off in the county’s North Pole mailbox. The mailbox will be sitting out from November 28 through December 22. All letters dropped off during this time will arrive promptly to Santa in time for Christmas.
“We really enjoy putting on the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony every year,” said Judge-Executive David West. “ We enjoy hosting an event that brings people together and shares positivity and joy. We hope to create an experience that fosters good memories for family members to share with one another. We look forward to seeing everyone out”
