County fall haul is Saturday

The Jessamine County Fiscal Court and Environmental Services are pleased to announce the annual Fall Haul, an event that offers residents free disposal of household hazardous waste.
During the Saturday, Oct. 1 event, citizens are encouraged to bring household hazardous waste to the Jessamine County Convenience Center at 123 Hendren Way in Nicholasville any time between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. This event is held to offer residents an opportunity to properly dispose of hazardous materials, thus keeping them out of our environment and preventing pollution.
Only household hazardous waste materials will be accepted during Fall Haul; absolutely no commercial hazardous waste materials will be accepted, and no propane cylinders. Household hazardous waste items accepted during the event include paint, paint thinner, antifreeze, pesticides, pool chemicals, creosote, insect sprays, and more. Everyday household materials that are also considered hazardous, including mothballs, oven and floor cleaners, and arts and crafts supplies, will also be accepted during the Fall Haul.
Absolutely no commercial debris such as shingles, drywall, etc. Bricks, concrete blocks, and asphalt, dirt, normal household waste such as daily trash and food garbage, storm brush, and tires are also unacceptable items and will not be accepted.
Other items can be brought to the Jessamine County Convenience Center during regular business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., such as shingles, drywall, commercial debris, and tires. These items will be charged at the normal rate. They will not be accepted during the Fall Haul event, only household hazardous waste.
