The Nicholasville City Commission passed two ordinances on Monday, August 22. One regarding tax rates for vehicles and watercraft and one regarding real and personal property. Nicholasville residents are subject to these tax rates.
Tax rates for vehicles and watercraft will be 19.7 cents for every $100 value for the 2023 tax year. This rate has stayed the same since at least 2010.
Personal property is moveable from land, like furniture, equipment, tools, and computers. Real property includes land plus the permanent fixtures attached to it, like houses or other buildings.
The personal and real property tax rate for the tax year 2022 will be 18.6 cents for every $100 of value. Taxes for personal and real property tax are due on October 31, 2022. There will be a 10% penalty added on November 1, 2022, with an interest of 1% per month past the deadline beginning on January 1, 2023.
For any payments received on or after March 1, 2023, a penalty is added depending on the more significant amount of $75 or 25% of the outstanding amount. This includes the previously stated penalties.
