An individual wanted in connection with an illegal animal dump has been identified.
Jessamine County Animal Care and Control (JCACC) asked the public for assistance in a social media statement last Friday in identifying an unknown woman who abandoned a poodle overnight in a side play yard that JCACC uses for sick or injured animals.
“This canine was left in a play yard that staff rarely uses (for sick or quarantined animals) and with the weather (hot temperatures / thunderstorms) we’ve had recently this could have been quickly fatal for the canine if we had not found it,” the statement reads.
The woman had another dog with her and was seen driving a red Mazda in security camera footage according to the statement.
While the woman has been identified and humane officers have contacted her, her name was not released in the statement.
JCACC also had a reminder for the public.
“While we are glad the canine is now safe and sound, we encourage the public to surrender animals the correct way,” the statement reads.
Illegal dumping of anywhere is illegal under Kentucky law.
To properly surrender an animal in Jessamine County please contact JCACC at (859) 881-0821 or an accredited local animal rescue.
