The tornadoes that devastated Mayfield on Dec. 10 left survivors many in need. The Nicholasville Police Department has teamed with other law enforcement agencies to help Mayfield clean the debris, along with providing necessities to survivors and toys for the children.
Officers arrived Dec. 22 with a 16-foot trailer filled with thousands of dollars worth of toys, food, clothing, blankets, water and other items. Departments participating outside of the Nicholasville PD include the Georgetown Police Department and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.
Mayfield real estate agent Sarah Farmer organized a Christmas event that same day, to which Nicholasville police dropped off the toys.
