COVID-19 related leave for Nicholasville city employees has been extended, retroactively beginning June 1, 2021.
The decision came through during the regular Nicholasville City Commission meeting Monday night. Commission members approved Municipal Order 2021-014: A Municipal Order to Amend the Termination Date Previously Established in Municipal Order 2020-002 for Covid-19 Related Leave.
Order 2020-002, introduced not long after the pandemic hit the county in 2020, granted those who work for the city ten days of Covid leave, a type of leave separate from sick and vacation time. This order had expired on May 31, 2021. Municipal Order 2021-014 retroactively extends this deadline to May 31 of 2022.
Because the order is retroactive, city employees who used sick or vacation time after May 31 of this year will have those days restored, with the days used being replaced by Covid time.
The order will go into effect following its publication.
