Local Republicans of Senate District 22, including Garrard, Jessamine, Mercer and Washington Counties and part of Fayette County, nominated Dr. Donald Douglas of Nicholasville to be the GOP candidate for the Nov. 2, 2021 special election to fill the vacancy created by the passing of the late Senator Tom Buford.
“Kentucky Republicans owe a great deal to the life and legacy of service of Senator Tom Buford,” Republican Party of Kentucky Executive Director Sarah Van Wallaghen said. “We’re excited to have Dr. Douglas as our party’s nominee, and his career of improving healthcare for families in Central Kentucky will make him a strong advocate for constituents in Frankfort. We look forward to working hard to keep this seat in Republican hands.”
Dr. Donald Douglas serves as the medical director at the Tony Delk IMAC Regeneration Center in Lexington, where he specializes in orthopedics and interventional pain medicine. Dr. Douglas attended medical school at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington and completed residency at UK and the University of Louisville.
