Jessamine County nonprofits raised more than $125,000 through the GoodGiving Challenge last week, and one local nonprofit led the challenge in most donations garnered.
Seven Jessamine nonprofits participated in the annual online donation campaign facilitated by the Blue Grass Community Foundation and Smiley Pete Publishing.
Together, they raised $125,698 for local causes.
One of the community’s newest nonprofits, Justin’s Place, which opened earlier this year, raised the most of any of the more than 100 participating nonprofits.
Local nonprofits and their total donations raised included:
• Justin’s Place: $75,133
• Word Made Flesh: $16,409
• Breaking Free: $4,634
• Revive Life House: $3,507
• Kentucky United Methodist Children’s Home: $10,577
• Primate Rescue Center: $8,808
• AdventureServe: $6,630
The challenge ran from Dec. 1-7 and allowed people to donate through an online portal to a variety of nonprofits throughout the state.
The 129 participating organizations raised more than $2.3 million through 13,727 individual donations made throughout the week.
