Lockett announces candidacy for state rep.

Matt Lockett of Nicholasville filed papers on Dec. 16 for his candidacy for state tepresentative in House District 39, which includes parts of Fayette and Jessamine Counties.
“Our district needs reliable and selfless conservative leadership in Frankfort,” Lockett said. “I have devoted my career to helping families and businesses in our area have better and stronger futures, and as state representative I will continue to fight for these principles every day.”
Lockett is a financial advisor. He works to help people and businesses manage their money to strengthen their financial foundations so families and companies can have brighter futures with more opportunities.
Lockett is an experienced financial services professional and consumer advocate.
Before returning to the private sector in 2017, he led the Kentucky Department of Insurance’s Health and Life/Property and Casualty Divisions. As division director, Lockett helped educate, inform and protect the public regarding insurance in Kentucky.
Lockett, a life-long Republican, is also the chair of the Jessamine County Republican Party, where he leads grassroots volunteers to work to help conservative Republican candidates beat Democrats on Election Day.
He has worked with local elected officials, the state Republican Party and many other state officials to ensure strong conservative leadership in Jessamine County and Kentucky.
He is an ambassador with the National Alzheimer’s Association, where he volunteers to bring awareness and to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
He is also an Honorable Kentucky Colonel.
“We need a representative in Frankfort with real world experience that will fight for the pro-life, pro-family, pro-2nd Amendment conservative ideals that Jessamine Countians hold dear.”
Lockett resides in Jessamine County with his two children who attend East Jessamine High School.
