The tough year for the East Jessamine girl’s soccer team continued over the weekend as the Jaguars went 0-2 in the VisitJessamine.com Soccerama at West Jessamine High School top fall to 1-5 on the year.
In the first match against Lincoln County, the Jags fell 3-1 to the Lady Patriots while down starters to injury. East coach Devon Burnside didn’t make excuses, however, for the loss.
“I’m pretty mad,” she said. “This was a winnable game for us. Coach Megan (Wall) and I are on the same page about how this game went. Lincoln wanted it more. Our girls didn’t show up to play.”
Late in the Lincoln game, junior Jocelyn Salazar — the Jaguars leading scorer — went down with an injury that held her out of the rematch against Pulaski County.
In that rematch — the Lady Maroons defeated East at Pulaski last Monday — the Jaguars fell 2-0.
The Jags and Colts squared off Wednesday after press time. To read about that match, visit jessaminejournal.com.
