Summer concert weekend in Wilmore
Summer concert weekends continue on the Wilmore Downtown Green. On Friday, July 26, Gospel on the Green will feature Marlana VanHoose. VanHoose has performed for the Cincinnati Reds, University of Kentucky Basketball and was one of the featured performers for President Donald Trump’s inaugural activities. On Saturday, July 27, Stonebridge will welcome back Lightnin’ Rod & The Thunderbolts for a lively performance featuring vocals and great instrumentals. Both concerts start at 7 p.m. There are tables and chairs on the Green or attendees may bring their own. Also on the Green will be Hometown Concessions with full menu. While these concerts are free, everyone is encouraged to bring can good or pet food which will be distributed to local agencies.
Nicholasville Farmer’s Market
The Nicholasville Farmer’s Market is open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is located at 717 N. Main St. in Nicholasville, across from Sherwin Williams and Nicholasville Car Wash. The stand sells fresh and locally grown vegetables, such as squash, tomatoes, beans, corn, etc., as well as plants, cut flowers, jams, salsa and other farm fresh products.
Al-Anon meeting at Wilmore United Methodist
Al-Anon meetings are for those troubled by another’s alcohol use, or substance abuse. An Al-ANon meeting (using the 12 Step program) is being held in Wilmore at the Wilmore United Methodist Church every Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. each week. The meeting is in the back part of WUMC, in the basement. The church is located at 209, East Main Street, in Wilmore. Call 859.327.8130 for more information or visit al-anon.org to get even more. There are no fees or dues, and anonymity is a key policy.
Jessamine County Historical Society announces meeting, book sale
The Jessamine County Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. July 25 at the Jessamine County Public Library. The event will feature guest speaker Steve Flarity who will be speaking about Kentucky’s every day heroes.
The Jessamine County Historical Society is also currently conducting a Christmas in July bag-of-books-sale from noon until 5 p.m. Saturday July 27. Books are currently on sale for $1 each, or residents may buy one bag for $5. Sale prices also include $5, $10 and $15 books on sale, as well as buy one get one free. The society is located at 216 N. Free meal every Saturday at Nicholasville United Methodist
A free meal is served every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Nicholasville United Methodist Church, located at 303 W. Maple St. in the community Center. No registration or forms to fill out. All are welcome.
Farmer’s Market in Wilmore
The Jessamine County Farmers’ Market in Wilmore is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The location is the Wilmore City Hall Parking Lot on East Main. Vendors are selling fresh and locally grown seasonal produce such as various lettuces, green onions, asparagus, yellow summer squash and zucchini, as well as honey, perennials, vegetable plants and annuals.
Jessamine DUI offers education program
The Jessamine DUI and Substance Abuse Program offers a 20-hour education program weekly from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. An out-patient program is offered Mondays at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Assessments are by appointment only. Attendees must have a court AOC form, citation and conviction date prior to appointment. Jessamine Piece Quilters hold weekly meetings
The Jessamine Piece Quilters meets every Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at The Nicholasville Christian Church, located at 104 S. Second St. Enter through the back door. Barr hosts meetings in county
U.S. Rep. Andy Barr’s field staff will have office hours from 3 to 4 p.m. on the third Friday of every month at the Jessamine County Courthouse, located at 101 N. Main St. Meetings are held on a first come first serve basis. For more information call 859-219-1366.
Well Nutrition hosts Body Recall
Carolyn Walter will teach her exercise class “Body Recall,” from 2 to 3 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday at The Well Nutrition, located at 123 Orchard Drive. Exercises are done in a chair and with a chair and are helpful to regain strength, mobility, flexibility. coordination and posture awareness for patients who have suffered from strokes, joint replacement, heart, arthritis and Parkinson’s disease. Exercises also help with self-image and attitude about one’s self and wellbeing, as well as falls and recovery and ways to get up and down from the floor. All are welcome.
