The Jessamine County Healthy and Safe Communities Coalition and the Jessamine County Health Department will begin a three-part Community Health Assessment and Improvement Planning forum Tuesday, Oct. 17.
The subsequent parts of the community-wide assessment will take place on Nov. 9 and Dec. 12. The first forum is planned to last from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. with dinner being served. Registration is required.
The Stepping Together Toward a Healthier Community program will feature candid discussion on what the county-wide community considers to be the most imperative health issues and trends facing the county and the overall health of its residents.
According to Jessamine County Public Health Director Randy Gooch, a similar health assessment and improvement plan was studied and implemented in 2013.
“Although we have made great strides in the past four years, it is time to reassess our current health status as a community,” Gooch stated in a release.
The main goal of the forum is to first pinpoint the top issues, and then create plans to combat their vitality through preventive and corrective measures.
