Preparing for warmer weather outings

With the spring flowers in bloom, Jessamine County is shaking off the cold and coming to life with events.
During the colder months, community events are few and far between. I am beginning to notice the weekends quickly booking up and once again I have options for the Neighbors page. It’s so great to see a community that comes together, whether it be just for fun or for a cause. This weekend alone presents several opportunities for fun and giving. Friday is a day for raising funds with All God’s Children’s Mom Prom, which began five years ago as a fun night for residents and has blossomed into one the non-profit organization’s largest fundraising events. All the proceeds will go to All God’s Children. The event will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, April 28 at the R.J. Corman Hangar in Nicholasville, and it will feature dinner and dancing. Adult tickets are $40, tickets for ages 11 – 17 are $15 and tickets are $10 for children under 10.
Saturday brings fun and excitement in Wilmore with The Jim Edd Shearer Memorial Coaster Car Derby. Registration for the event begins at 11 a.m. and the races will begin at 1:30 p.m. on East Main Street. More information can be found at http://bit.ly/2qcuHn1. Saturday ends on a magical note with the Nicholasville Police-sponsored magic show at West Jessamine High, more information can be found on the event on page A2.
We welcome anyone who is attending these events to submit us a picture or two with the names of those in the pictures and the person who took it. Photos can be submitted to news@jessaminejournal.com. We love hearing from the community and having the opportunity to publish what is happening within it.
