I’m not going to lie, this week could have been easier.
Along with the physical drainage of moving everything in, putting things away and buying various items for a new home, I have also carried the many emotions of living so far away from my family.
The three hour drive has been replaced with late night unpacking and other tedious tasks that accompany moving in.
After this past weekend, a lot of the extra waves in my life that came about from relocating are finally beginning to smooth out. The waters are by no means calm yet, but I can see placidity in the distance.
Looking ahead I am excited to utilize those three hours a day to either relax or get some extra work done.
I finally feel I am leaving my mark on The Jessamine Journal.
As some of you may have already noticed, the “County Calendar” is now the “Community Calendar.” I did this for two reasons. One, I think it sounds better and two, it sounds more like what it actually is.
The Community Calendar” is for community gatherings, items such as the gallery walk, events at the public library, or a family fun night at Highbridge. These are all free events the entire community is invited to. Meetings that welcome anyone from the public to attend are also encouraged to be put on the calendar.
Private gatherings or events that cost money to get into are now considered ads.
I am also strongly encouraging readers to send in letters to the editor. If you have any issues or concerns about the paper or Jessamine County in general, we are interested in your opinion. Or, if you just have a strong appreciation for the county or its local paper, we’re interested in that as well. Letters to the editor must be no more than 350 words long and they are due by Friday at 5 p.m. for publication the following week.
I look forward to hearing from the community that I now live in.
