Electric Employees Receive Certification, Pay Raises

Nicholasville City Commission recognized two city electric employees and later gave them pay raises during Monday’s meeting at city commission chambers.

Travis Ward and Ryan Weingeroff graduated from the Utility Management Institute with utility management professionals certifications.
After receiving their certificates, the commission approved giving both Ward and Weingeroff pay-rate increases due to their new certifications. Raven Warren, an administrative clerk, also received a certification, commission approved her pay raise.

Commission also approved transferring two vehicles to general government as floating vehicles for city officials to use to travel to training programs. One of the vehicles is scheduled to be sold online at govdeals.com, so eventually the city will be down to one travel vehicle.

During the comment section, City Commissioner Bethany Brown gave the Nicholasville Police Department kudos for moving the memorial statue for fallen officers to the agency’s new building.

The department hosted a ceremony honoring Officer Burke Rhoads, who died on March 11, 2015.

Doug Blackford, Nicholasville director of general government, noted that inflation has caused the city to see higher prices for many services and products, including gasoline, cleaning supplies and flowers. He advised commissioners to take these price increases into consideration while working on the city’s budget.

“We’re seeing changes day by day,” he said.

Commission also met in closed session. No action was taken.
