Memorial Day Ceremony at Camp Nelson

A Memorial Day Ceremony titled “Honoring the Service and Sacrifice of Veterans,” will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 28, at Camp Nelson National Cemetary, located at  6980 Danville Road. Those who plan to attend are asked to arrive early. Col. Chris Campbell is scheduled to be the quest speaker, and the event is hosted by the Department of Veterans Affairs Camp Nelson National Cemetary and Central Kentucky Veterans Committee. 400-Mile Sale arrives in county

The 15th annual 400-mile sale across Kentucky is scheduled to start Thursday, May 31, and run through Sunday, June 3. Wesley Village to host AARP safe driving course

Wesley Village will host an AARP safe driving class from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 30. The class is for experienced drivers over age 55 who want to brush up on safety tips and receive a discount on their auto insurance premiums. The course will feature classroom work only. No behind-the-wheel instruction or test will be required. Registration begins at noon. Class fee is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. America’s homecoming queen selection scheduled for Pigeon Forge

America’s 38th homecoming queen selection is scheduled for July 16 and 17 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Those who were selected as homecoming queen from 2017-18 and have not received their application are asked to call their high school or 901-755-9144. High school homecoming queens from 1981-2017 are invited to be a part of the celebration as well.

WJHS announces school-based decision making meeting

West Jessamine High School will host a school-based decision making meeting at 10 a.m. in the school’s front office, located at 2101 Wilmore Road, June 4. All parents and guardians of students attending WJHS are welcome.

Solo exhibit announced for Prince Dinger painting

Local Arthritis foundation announces Walk with Ease Program

The Arthritis Foundation announced starting May 21 it will hold a Walk with Ease Program designed to reduce pain and improve overall health. The event is hosted by the YMCA of Central Kentucky and meets at St. Joseph Jessamine, located at 1250 Keene Road, from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, at the walking trail near the far end of the parking lot. East Jessamine schools announces open gym

East Jessamine Middle School announced an open gym for girls basketball. All potential girls basketball players are required to have an updated school physical. The open gym will be Friday, May 25.

An open gym will also be available for East Jessamine High School girls basketball every Tuesday after school from 4 to 5:30 p.m., from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

JCS offering online registration

Jessamine County Schools announced registration for the 2018-2019 school year will start with spring registration through May 31. Due to Jessamine County Schools summer hours, online registration will close from June 1 to July 11, and will reopen July 12 remaining open until school begins Aug. 15.
