NPD finds three syringes
in DUI traffic stop
Micael J. Smith, 35, address unknown, was arrested April 15 for DUI, failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance and operating on a suspended or revoked license, according to a citation issued by the Nicholasville Police Department.
Officers responded to a reckless driver southbound on US27 when a caller advised a white Mazda with no registration plate was swerving into other lanes. Officers observed the vehicle turn into Lowes off KY169, and begin circling the parking lot, according to the citation.
Upon making contact with Smith, officers said he had slurred speech. A field sobriety test was performed, which Smith failed. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found two syringes between the driver seat and center console. A third syringe was allegedly recovered from within the center console. Smith was arrested and transported to St. Joseph Jessamine, where he refused to submit to a blood test, allegedly telling officers they would be able to detect drug usage from days past. Smith was transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.
Nicholasville woman arrested for DUI
Julie S. Shelley, 40, of 104 Honeysuckle Court in Nicholasville, was arrested April 15 for DUI and a prescription controlled substance not in a proper container, according to a citation issued by the Nicholasville Police Department.
Officers responded to Kroger on South Main Street in reference to Shelley passed out in her car in the fire lane. Upon contact, officers allegedly found her passed out in the driver seat, and Shelley did not respond to officers when they knocked on the window. A field sobriety test was performed, which Shelley failed, according to the citation.
Officers asked Shelley if she had any prescription medication, and she allegedly told them she was using Methadone and consented to a search of the vehicle. Upon searching, officers found a pill bottle for Methadone inside the vehicle. Shelley was arrested and transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.
Nicholasville man arrested for public intoxication
Christopher M. Bergin, 39, of 106 Floyd Court in Nicholasville, was arrested April 14 for public intoxication, (second-offense), possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified) and third-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), according to a citation issued by the Nicholasville Police Department.
Bergen was described as being under the influence of a controlled substance in a public place and appearing confused and unsteady on his feet about to operate a motor vehicle. Upon search, officers found a bag containing 13 amphetamine and dextroamphetamine tablets, as well as a pill bottle containing seven more amphetamine and dextroamphetamine tablets and one gabepentin. Bergen allegedly agreed to a search of his vehicle which yielded another bag containing eight more gabapentin tablets. Bergen was arrested and transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.
Frankfort man arrested for DUI after allegedly striking guard rail
Michael D. Goldy, 39, of 221 Highroad Drive in Frankfort, was arrested April 13 for DUI, according to a citation issued by the Nicholasville Police Department.
Officers responded to reports of a reckless driver traveling North on the US27, which was described as a red dump truck allegedly following too closely and unable to maintain their lane of travel. Prior to officers arriving on scene, it was reported the dump truck left the roadway and struck the guard rail. Upon making contact with Goldy, he was described as having slurred speech and constricted pupils, according to the citation.
A field sobriety test was performed, which Goldy failed. He was transported to St. Joseph Jessamine where he submitted to a blood test and was then transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center.
Once inside the detention center, staff recovered a piece of plastic from within Goldy’s knife sheath which contained a residue of a light brown powdery substance. Goldy was informed of his miranda rights, which he waived, and then allegedly told officers he had recently purchased the knife from a friend, according to the citation.
Wilmore man arrested for public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia
Nathaniel Stuart Baker, 38, of 412 N. Lexington Ave. in Wilmore, was arrested April 12 for first-degree and first-offense possession of a controlled substance (opiates), public intoxication (excluding alcohol) and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a citation issued by the Nicholasville Police Department.
Officers received a call from a person sitting in the lobby of the Cabinet for Families building in reference to Baker in the lobby and allegedly nodding out. Officers found Baker sitting in the lobby sleeping. Baker was described as having slurred speech and slow reactions, according to the citation.
Upon placing Baker under arrest, officers located an over the counter headache reliever pill bottle in his pocket. The pill container allegedly contained seven hydrocodone and two methadone 10 mg tablets. Baker was transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.
Nicholasville woman arrested for public intoxication
April Bain, 25, of 101 Peelmore Court in Nicholasville, was arrested April 10 for public intoxication of a controlled substance (excluding alcohol), according to a citation issued by the Nicholasville Police Department.
Officers received a 911 call stating Bain was behind a dance studio on North Main Street allegedly waving her hands and yelling. Upon contact, Bain ran from the police cruiser onto Second Street and then onto Barnes Street, according to the citation.
Officers eventually connected with Bain and asked her to talk. She was described as unsteady on her feet and struggling to stand still with glassy eyes. Bain was also described as appearing unable to control her fingers by continually gripping and extending her hands and fingers, according to the citation.
Bain allegedly admitted to taking Percocet. Officers located a syringe on Bain after conducting a search. Bain was arrested and transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.
Middletown man arrested for cocaine
Trevino Anthony Coney Jr., 30, of 1510 Bonita Drive Apt. K in Middletown, was arrested April 11 for possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and second-degree robbery, according to a citation by the Nicholasville Police Department.
Coney was observed operating a Ford van on Edgewood Drive when an off duty sheriff deputy allegedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Coney left Marathon and was located in the Dairy Queen parking lot.
Upon contact, officers exited their vehicle, as did Coney, who was then asked by officers to remain inside his vehicle. While talking with officers, marijuana could allegedly be smelled coming from inside the vehicle, and a plastic wrapper tied in a knot was located inside the driver door handle, according to the citation.
Officers asked Coney what the substance was and he allegedly denied it was there. Officers allege the substance looked like cocaine, according to the citation. Coney was detained and the substance was field tested, and tested positive for cocaine. Coney was read his miranda rights, and allegedly told officers he uses cocaine when he is stressed. Coney was arrested and transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.
Nicholasville man arrested for outstanding warrants
David A. Hall, 33, of 271 Rebel Road No. 3 in Nicholasville, was arrested April 9 for first-degree promoting contraband first-degree first-offense), first-degree first-offense possession of a controlled substance, probation violation (felony offense) and failure to appear, according to a citation issued by the Nicholasville Police Department.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle because Hall was inside the vehicle and there were numerous warrants for his arrest. Hall was placed under arrest for his outstanding warrants, and once he arrived at the jail, was asked if he had anything illegal on him such as drugs, weapons or alcohol. Hall advised officers that he did not, according to the citation.
During a search by jail staff, employees located a folded piece of paper in the waistline of Hall’s boxers which contained a brown powdery substance believed to be heroin, according to the citation.
Nicholasville man arrested for public intoxication
Bryon Keith, 38, of 12 Hill N Dale Road in Nicholasville, was arrested April 8 for public intoxication of a controlled substance (excluding alcohol, first-degree first-offense) possession of a controlled substance (heroin), theft by unlawful taking under $500 and failure to appear, according to a citation issued by the Nicholasville Police Department.
Keith was observed manifestly under the influence of drugs while sleeping on a picnic table at 708 S. Main St. at the local Five Star. Keith allegedly would not wake up when officers called his name. When Keith finally woke up, he allegedly repeatedly fall asleep while standing, according to the citation.
Keith was placed under arrest and asked if he had any drugs, weapons or needles on him, to which he replied “no.” Upon officers searching his right front pocket, an unknown amount of heroin was located in a piece of paper. Keith was transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.

— Mathew Benjamin Norfleet, 24, of 106 Andrea Drive in Nicholasville, was arrested April 9 for fourth-degree assault minor injury.
— Jacob E. Sams, 27, of 241 Rebel Road #3 in Nicholasville, was arrested April 9 for fourth-degree assault minor injury.
— John B. Nicholson, 58, of 2112 Little Hickman Road in Nicholasville, was arrested April 9 for theft by unlawful taking under $500.
— Justin Adams, 29, of the Jessamine County Detention Center, was arrested April 9 for theft by unlawful taking under $500 and third-degree burglary.
— Donald Goodlett, 45, homeless, was arrested April 9 for a Jessamine County warrant.
— John Hisle, 52, address unknown, was arrested April 10 for alcohol intoxication in a public place.
— George Taylor Simpson Sr., 42, of 255 Williamsburg Road in Nicholasville, was arrested April 10 for a probation violation (felony) and violation of conditions of release.
— Charle Brewer, 20, of the Jessamine County Detention Center, was arrested April 10 for theft of identity of another without consent and receiving stolen property $10,000 or more.
— Eric Shearer, 29, of the Jessamine County Detention Center, was arrested April 10 for failure to appear.
— Carl Collins, 35, of the Jessamine County Detention Center, was arrested April 10 for first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.
— Brandi Nicole Blackburn, 25, of 456 Copper Creek Road in Berea, was arrested April 11 for DUI.
— Jennifer Shangraw, 31, of 410 Longview Road in Danville, was arrested April 11 for trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and theft by unlawful taking under $500.
— Robert L. Devine, 27, of 1765 Old Somerset Stanford Road in Eubank, was arrested April 11 for theft by unlawful taking under $500.
— Donnie Dobson, 47, of 214 Christopher Drive in Nicholasville, was arrested April 11 for theft by unlawful taking under $500, menacing, third-degree terroristic threatening and failure to appear.
— David Wayne Miller, 49, homeless, was arrested April 11 for failure to comply with sex offender registry.
— Alisha N. Gamble, 32, of 217 Coburn St. in Nicholasville was arrested April 12 for operating on a suspended or revoked license and leaving the scene of an accident with failure to render aid or assistance.
— Wesley Clark Spaulding, 32, of 397 Fox Harbour Drive in Lexington, was arrested April 12 for failure to appear.
— Jimmy A. Williams, 62, of 512 Southbrook Drive in Nicholasville, was arrested April 13 for fourth-degree assault.
— Jeremy None Stanley, 46, of 6198 Lexington Road in Lancaster, was arrested April 13 for non-payment of court costs.
