The Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce welcomed a business that will offer community members another option for an array of insurance policies.

Shelter Insurance clipped the chambers red ribbon on Thursday last week.

New owner of the insurance company Marc Miller said he delved into the insurance business in April this year.

“It’s been fun so far,” he said.

Before exploring the world of an insurance company, Miller was a manager at Rite Aid and before that he managed a pizza company for seven years.

He said he plans to continue the insurance business for a long time.

“It’s a new experience and I’ve really enjoyed it,” Miller said. “You get to meet a lot of different people from all varieties, a lot of business people to just the regular people just wanting auto and home quotes. So it’s been a real fun experience.”

Shelter Insurance offers a variety of policies including life, auto, home, business and general liability.
