A building in the Edgewood Drive Plaza that used to house a Drug Mart is now filled with flowers, candles and candies.

Dogwood Treasures Floral, Gifts and Collectibles opened in July 2016 on Edgewood Drive next to Circle K convenience store, but the business quickly outgrew the building.

About a month ago, the business owners moved to their current and more spacious location on 104 Edgewood Plaza Drive.

“We thought we would give this end of Edgewood Drive a try,” said co-owner of the business, Rhesa King. “So far, it’s been pretty good for us.”

Currently, Dogwood Treasures sells silk flowers for various occasions including funerals, Memorial Day, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. They also do funeral home deliveries upon request. King said eventually they would like to expand to arranging fresh flowers as well.

“We’ll get there eventually,” she said. “We got the area in the back set up for it, but we’re still working on that.”

Amongst the rows of silk flowers that are so realistic looking you can almost smell them, there are also Willow Tree and Goose Creek Candles, bows, wreaths, bourbon barrel decor and Ruth Hunt Candies.

“We’re just trying to keep as much shop local Kentucky Proud stuff in the shop as we can,” King said.

Despite the wet weather, Dogwood Treasures celebrated their new membership into the Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon cutting on Thursday.

The business, which is owned by King and Tom Eldridge, is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
