On Thursday, May 4, Jessamine County FFA held their annual banquet at West Jessamine High School. As many may know, FFA’s mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. With the number of scholarships and awards received, Jessamine County’s FFA is more than fulfilling their mission. The night was filled with food and tears as the retiring executive team officers Matthew DeMoss-Hale, Tara Parks, Krisleigh Watson and Josiah Renner, participated in the Blue Jacket Ceremony, hanging up their signature blue corduroy jackets for the last time. Countless students and adults were recognized for their participation, efforts and achievements made this year. A special thanks was given to Jessamine County Culinary Department for preparing this year’s savory banquet meal. Also, a heartfelt goodbye was given by our retiring superintendent Kathy Fields, whose two sons were also involved in Jessamine County’s FFA program. Lastly, 2017-2018 officers and committee chairs were officially sworn into the chapter. All in all, the 2017 banquet was definitely one to remember.
