Wilmore greets spring with a service day

Spring cleaning will come early for Wilmore in the form of a service day organized by Asbury University, Asbury Theological Seminary (ATS) and Habitat for Humanity.
On Friday, April 7, members of the community, as well as the three organizations, will gather to give back to Wilmore through painting, cleaning windows, landscaping, weed pulling, parks beautification, setting up park equipment and more.
The project was constructed by a leadership team consisting of students and staff from Asbury, ATS and Habitat for Humanity. The team took into consideration various needs voiced by community members and by Wilmore businesses, such as the Wilmore Cemetery and Rachel’s Rose Garden located at 310 E. Main Street in Wilmore.
“I’m pretty excited about it,” said Rachel Wolfe, owner of the florist and gift shop that opened in March 2014. “I think it’s a really nice offer.”
Wolfe said she has been needing to paint her door for over a year now, and though she has the materials, she can never seem to find the time. A few volunteers will be coming to the shop to paint her door as well as the window boxes on Friday.
“It’s nice to have to have someone come out and help,” Wolfe said.
